JBS Short Course: Legal Foundations for the Law of Contract 101

This two days course is an initiative of the Johor State Administrative Services Academy (APTNJ) in collaboration with Johor Business School (JBS), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). It aims to provide executives with fundamental knowledge of contract law to enhance decision-making capabilities, minimize risks, and ensure compliance in business transactions.
The program brought together officers and executives from various government agencies and Johor GLCs.
The course covered five main modules:
Introduction to Law of Contract
Essential Elements of a Valid Contract
Types of Contract
Remedies for Breach of Contract
Practical Issues Regarding Contract Disputes in the Industry
On the first day, participants attended Modules 1 to 3, delivered by JBS UTHM lecturers Dr. Mohd Nazir bin Mohd Adi and Mr. Mohd Asmadi bin Mohd Angsor.
The second day featured Module 4: Remedies for Breach of Contract, presented by Ms. Norhayati binti Mohamad (Advocate & Solicitor, Messrs Fariz Halim & Co.), followed by Module 5: Practical Issues Regarding Contract Disputes in the Industry, delivered by Tuan Haji Abdul Haris bin Abu Bakar (Advocate & Solicitor, Messrs Fariz Halim & Co.). The program continued with a Case Study Discussion and Participant Presentations.
The closing ceremony concluded with the presentation of gifts and certificates to participants, officiated by YB Dato’ Dr. Haji Badrul Hisham bin Kassim, Chief Executive Officer of APTNJ.
