BATU PAHAT, 9 July 2025 – Over 60 village and community leaders from across Johor gathered at Savanna Hill Resort, Ulu Tiram, for the Kursus Peningkatan Profesionalisme Institusi Pemimpin Kampung dan Masyarakat Negeri Johor 2025, held over three days from 2 to 4 July 2025.
Organized by the Johor State Secretary’s Office (SUKJ) and the Johor State Public Service Administrative Academy (APTNJ), in collaboration with Johor Business School (JBS), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), the programme aimed to empower community leaders through mastery of governance, organizational management, strategic communication, and effective leadership development.
The opening ceremony began with a prayer recitation, followed by a welcoming address by YB Dato’ Dr. Haji Badrul Hisham bin Kassim, Chief Executive Officer of APTNJ. He emphasized the importance of professionalism among village leaders, who serve as the vital link between the government and the people. Also present was the Dean of Johor Business School (JBS), UTHM, who delivered a preliminary briefing to participants.
The first day covered essential topics such as District Administration, Organizational and Individual Management, and Financial Management. These modules provided valuable exposure to the state’s administrative structure, human resource management methods, and ethical financial practices in community governance.
The second day began with outdoor recreational activities to foster teamwork and unity, followed by a session on Disaster Management, a crucial topic in the context of climate change and unforeseen threats. Participants were then guided through the Effective Leadership Development module, which focused on strategic leadership values, positive influence, and decision-making in critical situations.
The evening session focused on Documentation Skills, including report writing, meeting minutes, and task summaries—skills essential to ensuring well-documented and transparent village administration.
On the third day, participants engaged in group presentations under the theme Effective Communication, providing them the chance to apply what they had learned throughout the course. Presentations were evaluated based on clarity of ideas, issue management, and the ability to propose practical and thoughtful solutions.
The programme concluded with an official Closing Ceremony and Certificate Presentation for all participants. In the closing speech, the organizers highlighted that the course was more than just a training programme—it was a long-term social investment in developing capable, efficient, and people-centric grassroots leadership.
With structured learning and institutional support, Kursus Peningkatan Profesionalisme Institusi Pemimpin Kampung dan Masyarakat Negeri Johor 2025 is expected to make a lasting impact on rural community development and contribute to the state government’s vision of an inclusive and resilient society.
