UTHM supports the success of the Johor Smart City Forum 2025, contributing over RM1 million worth of free education vouchers.
JOHOR BAHRU, 22 Sept 2025 – As a sign of continuous support, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) has become one of the main sponsors of Johor’s largest smart city forum, the Johor Smart City Forum (JSCF) 2025, which kicked off today at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre.
UTHM contributed more than RM1 million worth of free education vouchers through Educity International College (EIC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of UTHM.
This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to nurturing highly knowledgeable human capital to support Johor’s smart city development agenda.
UTHM is also directly involved in the forum programme through a Tech Talk session entitled “Smart Campus Initiatives”, highlighting the role of universities in adopting smart technologies on campus, serving as a reference model for smart city transformation.
With the theme “Shaping Cities: Empowering Communities,” the forum, which gathers more than 15,000 visitors, is organised by PLANMalaysia Johor in collaboration with various government agencies, industries, communities, and academia.
This year’s focus is on bridging technological innovation with community needs, in line with Johor’s aspiration to become a Smart State 2030.
At the same time, Johor Business School (JBS) is also promoting its academic programmes in leadership, strategy, and management, which align with smart city development aspirations.
Other academic programmes under UTHM’s niche area of Sustainable Technology and Transportation are also being highlighted, covering sustainability, green technology, smart mobility, and sustainable infrastructure.
JSCF 2025 showcases various exciting segments, including the Smart City Leadership Forum with international figures, technology and innovation exhibitions, robotics competitions, and the presentation of the Johor Smart City Awards 2025.
The forum also features the participation of local authorities, technology companies, universities, and regional agencies such as IRDA, UTHM, UTM, SIRIM, Proton, Esri Malaysia, and Jakarta Smart City.
For the record, JSCF 2025 continues the success of JSCF 2023 and Johor Smart City Day 2024, and this year the forum has been elevated to a higher level with participants from across ASEAN, including Korea, China, Singapore, and Indonesia.
With the expected attendance of thousands of participants, the forum serves not only as a platform for discussions but also as a strategic avenue to strengthen collaboration between government, industry, and community.
It also stands as a symbol of collective effort to transform Johor into an inclusive, sustainable, and competitive smart state by 2030.
